The short answer

ClickUp Free Forever includes 60 Gantt-view uses, so it is a trial-sized allowance rather than unlimited Gantt access. ClickUp Unlimited removes the Gantt limit at $7/user/month yearly.

Is ClickUp’s Gantt chart free?

ClickUp Free Forever includes 60 uses of Gantt view, not unlimited ongoing Gantt access. ClickUp’s current pricing table labels Gantt on Free as a trial, while its help center quantifies that allowance as 60 uses. The Unlimited plan removes the Gantt limit and costs $7 per user/month billed yearly or $10 per user/month billed monthly as of August 7, 2026.

ClickUp Free is still a capable task platform: it includes unlimited tasks, unlimited Free-plan members, Kanban boards, Calendar, collaborative Docs, and 60 MB of storage. The question is whether Gantt is an occasional experiment or the team’s primary working view.

What does “60 Gantt uses” mean?

ClickUp’s current views-limit table states the allowance but does not explain Gantt usage events in the same detail it gives for some other views. ClickUp support material has historically counted opening, refreshing, or changing a limited view as usage. Because enforcement details can change, do not assume “60 uses” means 60 projects or 60 permanent charts.

The safe interpretation is: Free lets the Workspace evaluate Gantt, but a team that opens and updates the chart routinely should plan for Unlimited or another product. Test in a separate Free Workspace and watch the in-product usage indicator rather than building a long-term process around an ambiguous quota.

What can ClickUp’s Gantt view do?

ClickUp’s Gantt view can:

  • display tasks and milestones across dates;
  • show and create dependency relationships;
  • reschedule downstream tasks when dependency rescheduling is enabled;
  • display non-working days and personal time off;
  • organize the view at different levels of the ClickUp hierarchy;
  • share or customize the view according to plan and role;
  • show critical path and slack on eligible paid tiers or allowances;
  • preserve baselines on Business and above within documented limits.

Dependency relationships are available on all ClickUp plans and can be created in List, Board, Calendar, and Gantt views. The 60-use restriction concerns access to the Gantt view, not the existence of every underlying task relationship.

Is ClickUp Unlimited enough for Gantt planning?

For many teams, yes. Unlimited removes the Gantt-view cap and adds unlimited storage, integrations, custom fields, native time tracking, goals, portfolios, and resource management. At annual billing, a ten-member team’s list-price calculation is:

$7 × 10 users × 12 months = $840 per year

Choose Unlimited when the team already benefits from ClickUp’s wider workspace—Docs, Chat, tasks, views, goals, and integrations—and Gantt is one part of that system.

However, Unlimited does not include Gantt baselines, and its critical-path/slack tools have a documented 100-use allowance. If those are daily project-control features, compare Business at $12 per user/month billed yearly:

$12 × 10 users × 12 months = $1,440 per year

These are base list-price examples, not quotes; add-ons, AI, taxes, guests, contract terms, and billing location may change the total.

When is ClickUp Free the right choice?

Use Free when:

  • you primarily work in List, Board, or Calendar;
  • one person needs to evaluate Gantt on real data;
  • a temporary chart is sufficient;
  • unlimited tasks and members matter more than unlimited Gantt;
  • you are comfortable upgrading if the view becomes part of weekly work.

Do not choose Free for a Gantt-first workflow that opens the schedule every day. A usage-limited view creates an avoidable migration or upgrade decision in the middle of the project.

Other free or low-cost alternatives

  • GanttProject: free, open-source desktop software with local files and classic scheduling.
  • TeamGantt Free: one project with 40 tasks; paid Business adds its advanced controls.
  • GanttPRO: polished dedicated Gantt software with a 14-day trial, not a permanent free plan.
  • Microsoft Planner: Timeline requires Planner Plan 1; included Planner has no Gantt view.
  • Excel: suitable for a static or formula-driven chart when automatic scheduling is unnecessary.

The best free Gantt chart guide compares the trade-offs by workflow rather than declaring one universal winner.

How should you test ClickUp Gantt?

  1. Import or create one representative 25–50 task project.
  2. Add hierarchy, milestones, dependencies, owners, and working dates.
  3. Move one predecessor and observe downstream behavior.
  4. Test the permissions of a real member and external guest.
  5. Inspect critical-path, slack, and baseline access under the intended tier.
  6. Count how the Free usage indicator changes as the team opens and edits the view.
  7. Calculate annual cost for everyone who needs a paid seat.

Evaluate the whole workflow. A lower per-user price is not cheaper if the team must maintain a second scheduling system; a broad suite is not better if its complexity makes the schedule stale.
