Custom Task Statuses, the New Excel Import/Export & Smarter Collaboration Limits

Features

  • Custom Task Statuses — Your workflow, your words. Manage everything from Settings → Task statuses.
    • Define your own statuses: rename “In Progress” to “In Development”, add “In Testing” or “Blocked”, pick a color for each, and choose which status new tasks start with.
    • Each status maps to a category (Not started, In progress, Done, On hold), so progress metrics, project health and scheduling keep working no matter how you name things.
    • The Kanban board shows one column per active status — drag a card to a column and the task takes that status.
    • Parent tasks show a status chip rolled up from their subtasks, with a hover breakdown. Pin a specific status when you need an exception — “Auto (from subtasks)” in the dropdown returns it to automatic.
    • Statuses still in use are never lost: removing one deactivates it and historical tasks keep their meaning. Restore the default set anytime.
    • Only the project owner can edit the status set — members see it read-only, so the team’s shared vocabulary stays consistent.
  • The New Excel Import/Export — Export, template and import in one guided wizard, on the Gantt toolbar and the List view.
    • Exports carry every column, the painted timeline, all assignees per task, and the Status column lists your project’s valid statuses right inside the file.
    • Before importing, a review shows exactly what will happen — new, updated and unchanged tasks, plus owners to be created as virtual resources — and a restore point is saved automatically (History → Versions).
    • Choose where the plan lands with the “Import into” selector: at the root level or inside any existing task.
    • Import entire plans from Microsoft Project: tree, dates, progress, statuses and assignments come across automatically.
    • Re-importing the same file updates the tasks it created before — iterate on a plan in Excel and re-upload without duplicates.
    • Format-aware guides teach GanttFather files (WBS / Lvl columns) and MS Project files (name indentation) separately, each with a worked example.
  • Hit your collaboration limit? You’re no longer locked out — Accepting an invitation when all your collaboration slots are in use used to end in a generic error. Now you get a clear explanation of your usage, you can open the new project right away in read-only mode — full app, all views — and the moment a slot frees up you join automatically, no need to click the invite link again. Project owners can also see when an invitee is waiting for a free slot.
  • New “Slots” section in Settings — Your capacity at a glance: usage meters plus your owned projects and collaborations in separate lists. Leave a project (or decline a pending invitation) directly from the list to free a slot, with a confirmation step so nothing happens by accident — and a shortcut to Billing when you’d rather add one.
  • Clearer view-only mode — When you can view a project but not edit it (a pending invitation, or a view-only role), every surface now renders read-only with a banner explaining why, instead of offering controls that don’t apply.

Bug Fixes

  • Settings Update Instantly: Switching a project preference (like Manual/Auto task bar colors) now reflects in the dialog the moment you click it — no more closing and reopening Settings to see the change.
  • Task Panel Stays Fresh: The open task detail panel now updates live when a collaborator renames the task, moves its dates or changes its assignees — and closes itself if the task is deleted by someone else.
  • Collaboration-Proof Dialogs: The people dialogs (color, role, schedule) now pick up changes made by teammates while they’re open, and your own in-progress edits are never overwritten.
  • Excel Dates Read Correctly: Imported dates written as day/month/year (like 15/01/2026) are no longer mixed up with the US format, and dates with times or 2-digit years are handled too.
  • Accurate Numbers in Billing: The billing screen showed collaboration counts from an outdated formula that didn’t match what the app actually enforces. The meters now reflect your real usage, and pending invitations are labeled “Pending” instead of “Joined”.
  • Invitation Pages in One Language: Invitation screens mixed Spanish with your chosen language in some messages. Every title, button and status message now follows your language setting.
  • Silent Edit Failures Eliminated: If you lost edit access to a project mid-session, your changes could appear to apply and then quietly snap back. You now get a clear notice and the project switches to read-only immediately.
  • Referral Stats Always Load: Fixed an error that could prevent the referrals page from loading for some accounts.
  • Claude Connector Sign-In Fixed: Adding GanttFather as a connector in Claude (claude.ai, Claude Desktop or Claude Code) could fail at the final sign-in step with a “rejected credentials” message even though the authorization succeeded. The connection now completes reliably — link your account once and Claude’s agents can list, create and update your tasks and projects.
