 The short answer

 TeamGantt has a free plan limited to one project with 40 tasks. Paid Basic starts at $24/month; critical path, workload, portfolios, Kanban, and time tracking require Business.

## Is TeamGantt free?

 **Yes. TeamGantt has a free plan limited to one project with 40 tasks.** It is enough to learn the interface or run one small, finite project. It is not an unlimited free workspace, and TeamGantt’s current support documentation places advanced capabilities such as critical path, workload management, portfolio management, Kanban, and time tracking in its Business plan.

 As of August 7, 2026, TeamGantt documents these paid starting points:

- **Basic:** starts at $24/month for 2 projects, 1 manager, up to 10 collaborators, and 150 tasks per project;

- **Business:** starts at $120/month for 5 projects, unlimited managers and collaborators, and 500 tasks per project;

- **Builder Edition:** starts at $199/month for 10 projects, unlimited managers, collaborators, and tasks, plus construction-specific features.

 Monthly and annual options are available; TeamGantt says annual plans receive a 20% discount. Prices and limits can change, so check the live pricing page before purchase.

## TeamGantt plans at a glance

 Plan Starting price Included capacity Important scheduling scope

 Free $0 1 project, 40 tasks Small-project Gantt use

 Basic $24/month 2 projects, 1 manager, 10 collaborators, 150 tasks/project Core Gantt, calendar, list, files, communication

 Business $120/month 5 projects, unlimited managers/collaborators, 500 tasks/project Adds critical path, workload, portfolio, Kanban, time tracking

 Builder $199/month 10 projects, unlimited managers/collaborators/tasks Adds construction-specific controls and onboarding

 TeamGantt distinguishes **managers** from **collaborators**. Managers can create and edit projects, invite collaborators, and change project settings. Collaborators can update assigned work, progress, checklists, comments, and files. Count the people who must shape the schedule, not only the people who must report status.

## Is the free plan enough for a real project?

 It can be, when all of these are true:

- one project is active;

- the complete schedule stays under 40 tasks;

- the team does not require Business-only analysis or resource features;

- collaboration permissions fit the free account’s current rules;

- there is no near-term need to keep another active project.

 A 40-task limit is more useful than it sounds for a milestone-level launch, event, coursework plan, or client deliverable. Keep task detail at the level people will actually update. A checklist can hold small steps that do not need their own dates or dependencies.

 It becomes restrictive when one “project” contains several workstreams, governance requires a detailed network, or recurring work must stay active beside delivery work. Do not remove necessary tasks simply to remain under a plan limit; that makes the forecast less reliable.

## What happens when you outgrow TeamGantt Free?

 The key trade-off is not just task count. Decide which limitation you are crossing:

- **Need a second project or more than 40 tasks?** Basic may be enough.

- **Need more people to control project structure?** Review manager limits, not only collaborators.

- **Need critical path or workload management?** TeamGantt’s current documentation points to Business.

- **Need construction controls such as lookahead scheduling, material-delay prevention, financial forecasting, Procore sync, RACI assignments, or lockable milestones?** Review Builder Edition.

 If the only problem is one extra project, Basic starts with two and allows additional projects for $12/month each up to its documented five-project limit. Business starts with five and lists additional projects at $24/month each up to 20.

## TeamGantt cost examples

 Using the documented starting monthly prices:

 Need Likely starting plan Monthly starting cost Annualized before annual discount

 One project under 40 tasks Free $0 $0

 Two core projects, one manager Basic $24 $288

 Critical path and workload features Business $120 $1,440

 Construction-specific controls Builder $199 $2,388

 These are comparison examples, not quotes. Add-ons, project count, billing cadence, taxes, and negotiated terms can change the total.

## Is TeamGantt worth paying for?

 TeamGantt is a strong fit when a friendly Gantt-first interface, polished collaboration, and a manager/collaborator model match the team. Business becomes easier to justify when workload, portfolios, time tracking, and critical path replace separate tools or manual reports. Builder is differentiated for construction workflows rather than generic project tracking.

 Paying is harder to justify when you only need dependency scheduling and critical path for a very small team. In that case, the jump from Free to the Business feature set may be larger than the scheduling problem.

## Other TeamGantt alternatives

- **ClickUp:** broader all-in-one work management; its free Gantt is limited to 60 uses, and Unlimited removes that limit.

- **GanttPRO:** dedicated Gantt and resource features; free for a 14-day trial, then paid.

- **GanttProject:** open-source desktop scheduling with local files; collaboration is less cloud-native.

- **Microsoft Planner:** a natural fit for Microsoft 365 organizations, but Timeline requires Planner Plan 1.

- **Excel:** flexible and familiar for a static chart, but dependencies and recalculation remain manual.

## How should you test TeamGantt before upgrading?

 Build one representative project rather than a toy three-task demo. Include:

- a real hierarchy and at least 20 tasks;

- dependencies across two workstreams;

- two approval milestones;

- managers and collaborators with realistic permissions;

- one late-task scenario;

- the reports or resource views you expect to use weekly;

- an export you can inspect outside the product.

 Then ask whether the plan lets the right people make the right decisions—not whether the demo chart looked attractive.
